Caring and Nurturing People

Bertie Brown who is my mother influenced my life personally and professionally. As a child, you wanted me to reach my goals of becoming an early childhood educator. She instilled values within me that would stay with me for a lifetime. She encouraged me to do my best regardless of the situation. At the present time, she still provides me with encouraging words that will help me to strive to be the best me I can be.

Katie Peele, my grandmother was very motivational during my early childhood years. She would always tell me to dream big and stay focused. She would provide me with that motherly bond. Even though she has passed away, I still carry around her motivational words, "All things are possible through Christ who strengthens me".

Mamie Whitfield, my grandmother. My grandmother is a praying grandmother. She instilled those church values within me. She is the force that holds my family together. She instilled within me that family is important, and with God first in my life all of my career goals will fall into place. The saying that she instilled within me is, treat people like you want to be treated. That is what i remember on a daily basis when I enter into my classroom. I treat each child as individuals not as a group.

Mrs. James, my fourth grade teacher helped me to become the strong-minded individual that I am today. She would always give me words of encouragement when I seemed to get frustrated about an objective that I could not master. She would tutor me after school, so that I would be able to maintain my grades throughout the school year. She would give me that extra push when needed.

Evelyn Whitfield, my aunt also helped me to become the individual that I am today. She would always tell me that the world had alot to offer, it was up to me to decide on what type of life I wanted to have. She would reward me for good grades or for just being polite. She would sit me down to say "The world is yours, you just have to take the right path to live the kind of life that you want to live."She would always have a kind word for me when I got frustrated.

My Favorite Children's Book

No mirrors in my Nana's House is an inspirational story that lets the world know that children see no color or flaws as adults may observe. This book is a strong reflection of the quote "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".When teaching children at such an impressionable stage, it is important that we view them as they are.

A Quote about children

Children learn what they live.
If a child lives with criticism
he learns to condemn.
If he lives with hostility
he learns to fight.
If he lives with ridicule
he learns to be shy.
If he lives with shame
he learns to be guilty.

If he lives with tolerance
he learns confidence.
If he lives with praise
he learns to appreciate.
If he lives with fairness
he learns about justice.

Thus far...

Thus far in this course, I have acquired an abundance of knowledge of how to operate a blog. Blogs never sparked an interest until this course! Even though I am a little weary of what I am doing it is interesting and entertaining to learn through trial and error. :)
